Rajat Gupta

Rajat.jpgMr. Rajat Gupta is Chairman of WHEELS Global Foundation (WGF), and serves on its board as a key strategist in defining direction and focus of the non-profit organization. Mr. Gupta brings his considerable skills to WGF, along with his leadership associations and advisory roles to many other non-profits such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Mr. Rajat Gupta is a leading Indian-American businessman and Philanthropist who has co-founded successful world class institutions including Indian School of Business(ISB), American India Foundation(AIF), New Silk Route and Scandent Solutions. He was ranked 15th in the nation in the entrance exam for the Indian Institutes of Technology, IIT JEE. He received a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-Delhi) in 1971 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1973.

Mr. Gupta joined McKinsey & Company in 1973 as one of the earliest Indian-Americans at the eminent consulting company. In 1994, he was elected the firm’s first managing director (chief executive) born outside of the US, and then was re-elected twice in 1997 and 2000. Mr. Gupta is widely regarded as one of the first Indians to successfully break through the glass ceiling, as the first Indian-born CEO of a multinational corporation (not just a consultancy). During Mr. Gupta’s tenure as head of McKinsey, the firm opened offices in 23 new countries and doubled its consultant base to 891 partners, increasing revenue 280 percent to $3.4 billion.

Anil Bhandari

AnilB.jpgMr. Anil Bhandari is Chairman of Wheels Global Foundation (WGF) Advisory Board and Senior Vice President of a leading NY Wall Street firm. Prior to joining the Wall Street firm, Mr. Bhandari was with Morgan Stanley for fifteen years as Senior Vice President and member of Chairman and Director Councils. Earlier he was with Bear Stearns for over 16 years and appointed Senior Managing Director in 1999. 

Mr. Bhandari graduated from Agra University, India with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1964 and received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1969. Mr. Bhandari received a Master of Industrial Engineering in 1971 and an MBA in 1973, both from Ohio State University. In 1997. Mr. Bhandari received The 1997 IITK Distinguished Alumnus Award. Mr. Bhandari has been a speaker at Euro Money and Institutional Investor global conferences. He has chaired the 2011 Pan IIT NY Global Conference. Mr. Bhandari served on the Board, Advisory Committee and as Treasurer of American India Foundation, a 501 C(3) charity founded by President William Jefferson Clinton. He is currently chair of the WHEELS advisory Board (a 501 C3 charity) and involved with numerous other charities. Mr. Bhandari is currently the Emeritus Member of the Pan IIT USA board.

Hiten Ghosh

hiteng.jpgDr. Hitendra Ghosh is the 'President Emeritus' of WHEELS Global Foundation (WGF) and serves on its board as the chief executive of the operations of the non-profit organization. Dr. Ghosh has a distinguished career and has been actively involved in giving generously, his time and talent to activities of PanIIT and Capital IIT Alumni associations, as well as other organizations that promote the welfare of citizens ‘at the bottom of the pyramid’

Dr. Ghosh is  Vice-President and Chief Quality Officer of Hughes Network Systems, LLC, Maryland. He is a member US-India Business Council of US Chamber of Commerce and board of the  IIT Foundation and US-India Strategic Institute.  He is a member of the board of Advisors of IVY venture capital, India and of the Board of  Executive directors, Quest Forum, USA, an Industry body of Telecommunication companies such as AT&T, Verizon, Ericsson, Nokia, Fujitsu, Reliance, Tata teleservices, Vodafone and others. 

His past achievements include  receiving an outstanding Invention Achievement award from IBM, Management Excellence award from Unisys Corp. and Corporate Quality Management Award from Hughes Electronics. He has been awarded the “Pride of India” award by NRI Institute of India and Pravasi Achievement Gold medal of UK as also Distinguished Service Gold Medal from IIT-kgp and Lifetime Service Achievement Award of PanIIT Alumni, USA of which Dr Ghosh has been Co-president (2005-2006) He has also served on the Board of Directors of Tata-Unisys Corp, India.

Dr. Ghosh received  B. Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from IIT-Kharagpur in 1958 and PhD in Electrical Engineering in 1962 from University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois. 

Dr. Ghosh will serve as Chair of the Board of Directors, presiding over meetings of the Board and other Board activities, including program planning, policy-setting, global strategy, financial oversight, and fundraising. Dr. Ghosh will also serve as President of WHEELS. In this role, he will have primary responsibility for implementing WHEELS programs, administration, and fundraising. Specific responsibilities include execution of organizational activities and goals, maintenance of communications with the Board of Directors regarding major policy setting and fiduciary board responsibilities, strategic planning, budget development and monitoring, and hiring and management of employees and volunteers to execute programs and activities.

Suresh V. Shenoy

Shenoy is the President for WHEELS Global Foundation (WGF) and serves on its board to provide valuable advice and direction for activities of the non-profit organization.  Mr. Suresh Shenoy has been an active supporter of the Capital IIT and Pan IIT Alumni associations and has continued to give his time and talent to WGF as its trusted advisor.

Mr. Suresh Shenoy is Executive Vice President at Alyxtech, Inc., Inc., a Virginia based systems consulting and Technology Company. He recently completed two terms as Chairman of the National Capital region of the American Red Cross and currently serves on the boards of The Kevric Company, IMC Global Services, The Capital IIT Alumni Association and the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Shenoy also serves on the TechAmerica Board of Directors, the Board of Directors for Fairfax 2015 – the biennial World Games of Police and Fire Fighters with 12,000 athletes competing from 80 countries.  

His distinguished career includes being the Program Committee Chairman of the PanIIT Global Conference held in Washington, DC in 2005. Mr. Shenoy served as co-President of the PanIIT Alumni Association in North America for the 2006-2008 Term. He also represented Dranesville District on the Fairfax County IT Advisory Board for six years. Mr. Shenoy is a Fellow of the Information Management Congress (Europe) and AIIM International (USA). He has been recognized by IBM Corporation as ‘Information Champion’ for his contributions to Enterprise Content Management technologies for three consecutive years 2009-2012 and received the Distinguished Service Award from his alma mater, the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai. In 2010, Mr. Shenoy and his brother Sudhakar, were honored by the Northern Virginia Community Foundation for their leadership and contributions to Fairfax County.  He is on the adjunct faculty of the School of Information Technology & Engineering at George Mason University, where he teaches a course in Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation. 

Mr. Shenoy has traveled widely throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East, has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (1972), and an MBA from the University of Connecticut (1975).

Gulab Bhavnani


Mr. Gulab Bhavnani is Program Director and Secretary of WHEELS Global Foundation (WGF) - a 501-c-3 non-profit corporation, dedicated to social entrepreneurship initiated by Capital IIT Alumni Association, and serves on its board as Secretary and Advisor. Mr. Bhavnani has been actively participating in activities of the IIT Alumni association and Pan IIT Alumni Association since 2001, providing time and talent to promote the message and event planning for the organizations.

Mr. Gulab Bhavnani is Managing Partner of Anchor Systems Corporation, a contact center consulting and staffing firm, based in Northern VA. He is a 1966 graduate of IIT Kharagpur, India where he graduated with a Bachelors (Hons) degree in Electrical Engineering, and studied at the Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia, PA.

Mr. Bhavnani’s distinguished career spans commercial as well as entrepreneurial ventures. He has years of varied experience at IBM where he developed cost-effective Outsourcing solutions for large and medium sized businesses globally and received two awards for improving equipment efficiencies and four 100% club awards. Mr. Bhavnani also was the Director of IT Delivery for the American Red Cross, which awarded him two pins of Excellence. As an entrepreneur, he launched and ran a successful call center products company delivering technology and consulting services to commercial and government clients.

Ruyintan (RON) E. Mehta


Mr. Mehta was a serial entrepreneur in the plastics industry, who recently sold his last plastics manufacturing business in California in 2012. Over a 24 year period he started, bought, merged and sold several plastic blow molding companies in New Jersey, California, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Canada that ranged in size from 5 million to 34 million in sales. Prior to starting Crystal Clear Inc., in New Jersey, his first start up in plastic blow molding in 1990, Mr. Mehta was General Manager at Combustion Engineering Environmental (now ABB) and was President of an engineering services company in Flemington, NJ called Andersen Engineering Services.

Mr. Mehta was a licensed Professional Chemical Engineer (inactive status) in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 1970 and also received Masters Degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Connecticut (1972) and in Engineering Administration from the University of Utah (1974).

Mr. Mehta is the current President of IIT Bombay Heritage Foundation and the former President of IIT Bombay Alumni Association Greater New York. He is passionate about giving back to society and to his alma mater IIT Bombay. Mehta was instrumental in developing and initiating a successful Student Exchange Program between IIT Bombay and The Cooper Union, a prestigious highly regarded Engineering institution in New York City. Mr. Mehta is an active supporter of Clean Drinking Water Plants (CDWP) in remote impoverished villages in India. He is a co-chair of the Water initiative of WHEELS Global Foundation, a US non-profit started by IIT alumni residing in the US.

Mr. Mehta is an active volunteer mentor of SCORE Central Jersey, a non-profit resource arm of the US Small Business Administration. The SCORE Central Jersey Chapter provides completely free mentoring services to help guide individuals and small businesses to start, grow and prosper in New Jersey. Score Central Jersey also conducts free seminars on a wide variety of business related topics throughout the year.

Dr. Kannan M. Moudgalya


Dr. Kannan Moudgalya is a professor of Chemical Engineering, Systems and Control, and Educational Technology at IIT Bombay. He has been with IIT Bombay for more than 25 years. He was a visiting professor at the University of Alberta during 2003-04. Kannan has written four textbooks and several papers in international journals and conferences. He works in the areas of control, simulation and modelling.

Kannan is now devoting his time on spreading education on a massive scale, without quality dilution. He has been focusing on spoken tutorials, open source software systems,virtual labs and affordable tablets and laptops. He believes that it is possible to provide high quality education to all our children through a combination of education, and information and communication technologies, making India a developed country in the process.

Kannan has held the posts of Associate Dean (R&D), Head of Application Software Cell and Head of the Centre for Distance Engineering Education Programme, at IIT Bombay. He was a Member of the Standing Committee of the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT), MHRD, Government of India, for five years. Kannan received the Google MOOCs Research Award for developing the offline ca- pability in Spoken Tutorials. He was nominated for the HT for Mumbai 2015 award. The Spoken Tutorial project received the best prize in the Reimagine Education Award, instituted by QS and Wharton School, in the Nurturing Employment category.

Witty Bindra


Mr. Bindra is a senior geotechnical engineer and operations executive with a successful track record in engineering, sales, and executive management, with more than 20 years in the Civil Infrastructure and Energy Industry. Experience ranging from several multi-national companies to build and turn around assignments of more entrepreneurial ventures over the last ten years.

Mr. Bindra is currently Senior Vice President, Strategic Industry Solutions, LLC (, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner providing and implementing financial and operational software for Contracting and Professional Services focused companies. He has gained progressive experience in both private and public sectors and specializes in Growth strategies, asset management, turnaround, sales leadership, solution selling, P&L management and increasing profits, acquisition integration, contract negotiation, strategic alliances, ERP, CRM, application outsourcing, and development. In 1995, he was the recipient of the Confederation of British Industry Scholarship to train in the UK. He sits on the editorial advisory committee of the trade magazine, Geosynthetics and has published several technical papers in the US and overseas. He has chaired the 2013 Pan IIT Houston Global Conference. He is currently the President of Pan IIT USA, an IIT Alumni Association (a 501 C6) and involved with numerous other charities. A veritable globetrotter who has lived and worked in Singapore, the UK, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, Mexico and in cities within the US. When Mr. Bindra lived in New Zealand, he became the first turbaned Sikh to be accepted as a commissioned officer into the Royal New Zealand Navy Volunteer Reserve. Mr. Bindra earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Diploma in Construction Management in India. He has a Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-Delhi) and an MBA in Project Management and International Business from Massey University, New Zealand.

Vinay Karle


Vinay Karle is a financial and software industry veteran, experienced in advanced analytics and enterprise technologies. He currently serves as a Director at Citibank, based in New York City and is responsible for building products using Data Insights and Artificial Intelligence.

Vinay’s experience spans many industries and functions, including investment banking, enterprise software, pharmaceutical, supply chain, telecommunication, education, and hedge funds. During his career, he has led many strategic initiatives and managed global software development teams.

Vinay has been active in the IIT alumni community as a volunteer for almost two decades and has served on the boards of a few non-profits/NGOs in the United States and India. Vinay is actively involved in improving educational standards through grassroots efforts at Jalkot Zilla Parishad school. In 2007, Jalkot grampanchayat (village administration) conferred ‘Jalkot Bhushan’ award on Vinay. He was also named a finalist for Barclays’ ‘Chairman’s Award’ in 2010 for commitment to global community. He and Sujay Kumar, a NASA scientist, are working on a Drought Mitigation and Monitoring project for planners and policymakers in Maharashtra, India.

He received his bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and his master’s degree in Engineering from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, in 1999.

D. C. Agrawal


Mr. D. C. Agrawal is Director, Sustainability for WHEELS Global Foundation. Professionally, he is President of D. C. Agrawal Consulting LLC, a railroad and urban transportation consulting firm and has worked for more than 45 years in the renewal and expansion of passenger rail / urban transit operations and systems and their affect on land use and sustainable urban practices. He served for over thirty years with New Jersey Transit Corporation, which helped establish in 1979, as its Chief Financial Officer, Assistant Executive Director for Corporate Strategy, Policy and Contracts and in other senior executive positions. Since his college days at IIT Bombay, he has been actively involved with several organizations working on India’s sustainable development. He has been associated with WHEELS for the last 4 years. In addition, he supports IIT Bombay’s Centre for Technology Alternatives for Rural Areas "CTARA" and Center for Policy Studies. He has worked with PSI, Dehradun, an NGO established by IITB graduates to bring scientific rigor to rural development projects.

DC currently serves as President of IIT Bombay’s Greater New York Chapter and serves on the Board of IIT Bombay Heritage Foundation. He has served as NJ President and on the Board of the Association of Indians in America (AIA), the oldest Indian-American organization. In 2004, he helped establish AIA NJ’s Gandhi Award Program, which familiarizes NJ middle and high school students with Mahatma Gandhi’s sayings and teachings, and is now in its 15th year.

Mr. Agrawal received his B.Tech. (Honors) degree in 1969 in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay. In 1970, he received a MS in Operations Research/Economics from NC State University. He has attended Wharton School’s Executive Management program.

Dr. Smita Siddhanti


Dr. Smita Siddhanti is the founder and President of EnDyna Inc. specializing in management and environmental consulting for various federal agencies in Washington DC. She was the past president of DC Chapter of TiE - "The Indus Entrepreneurs",and currently serves on the Global Board of Trustees for TiE.  She has served on the Virginia Governor's Air Quality Board and on the Board of University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Siddhanti is a recipient of several awards including 2014 Future 50 award of Smart CEO, and the White House Green Government award in 2016.  Smita is committed to enhancing entrepreneurship as the basic engine for economic development and has been actively involved in this pursuit with the global organization such as the Ashoka Foundation for changemakers, American India Foundation, Indiapora, and with TiE chapters around the world. She is on the board of Magan Sangrahalaya Samiti (MSS), an Indian NGO in Wardha, Maharashtra, working for rural enterprise development in villages.

At TiE Global, Smita is leading the TiE Women Initiative to assist and mentor women entrepreneurs across the globe. In addition, she has built a strong relation with TiE and the Indian Embassy to start various technology incubation and entrepreneurial initiatives. Smita is also leading the TiE Global Special Interest Group of social entrepreneurship and social impact investing. With her extensive experience and engagement, Dr. Siddhanti is contributing to WHEELS Global Foundation’s two major missions - Livelihood and Sustainability - facilitating development of sustainable enterprises to enhance rural economy. Well known speaker in numerous national and international conferences and forums, she recently was a panelist at the US-India Leaders’ Summit at the National Press Club in DC, and at the Philanthropy Summit at the George Town University. In addition to several publications, Dr. Siddhanti is an author of the book Multiple Perspectives on Risk and Regulation: The Case of Deliberate Release of Genetically Engineered Organisms into the Environment, published in 1991.  She holds a B.S. and Biology from Delhi University, M.S. in Technology Policy from Rensselaer Polytechnic (RPI), and a Ph.D. in Technology and Public Policy from the University of Pittsburgh.


Dr. Raj Shah


Dr. Raj Shah is a practicing cardiologist, philanthropist and entrepreneur based in Philadelphia. He is educated at the University of Pennsylvania and Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Temple and Drexel University faculties. He is pioneer in the field of telemedicine and the creator of SmartCareDoc telemedicine system which was deployed at “The Clinic at Wal-Mart” in 2012-14: The first telemedicine clinic in retail store in America. He established TeleRetinopathy screening program at the Temple University Health System in 2016 and a teaching Teleclinic at the School of Nursing at Rutgers University. He is also a Research Fellow at the Blanche and Irwin Lerner Center at Rutgers University for the study of Pharmaceutical Management and Healthcare and lectures about Telemedicine. He is member of the Advisory Board of Kean University College of Business and Public Management and Global Business School, Trustee of S.M. Shah Law College and Sarvajanik School in Mehsana, India.

Dr. Shah is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, echo-cardiography, nuclear cardiology, and cardiac CT angiography. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, and the American College of Physicians. He received his medical degree with distinction from the M.S. University in Baroda, India, and graduate training in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Shah received a Master of Business Administration with Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma honors in 1997.

Yagya Datt Sharma *


Yagya is the very first young volunteer for WHEELS Global Foundation since its official incorporation in 2013. He is currently serving WHEELS as 'Director of Technology Services' playing key role in all technical infrastructure services related operations & initiatives while working closely with visionary Board Members. He is also working as Sr. Principal Engineer at a Software MNC- Hughes Systique in Germantown(MD). Yagya has been instrumental in laying the foundation of all technological infrastructure services for WHEELS including designing & building Website using the latest technology #NationBuilder cloud platform with Ruby and Liquid programming integrated with Secure Online donations system having project wise tracking for each transaction, linking with multiple payment processors i.e. PayPal, Banks &, Setting up Software of 'Auction platforms' for annual fundraiser GALA, Managing Newsletters and Email Marketing via MailChimp software, Maintaining Contact/Donor Databases and Online transactions Audits etc. He has also contributed in coming up with ideas for defining branding/marketing strategy, managing social media and coming up with the statistics for our outreach programs or webinar series. 

 He is graduated from NIT Allahabad in Computer Science & Engineering after being ranked in Top 0.1% countrywide applicant of 'All India Engineering Entrance Examination'(AIEEE-2004, now renamed as 'Joint Entrance Exam'(JEE) for IITs and NITs). There is an interesting long story of how he got associated with WHEELS due to his passion for contributing in social change, without any prior acquaintance with WHEELS or any of its board member. He narrated his story in brief as opening remarks during WHEELS 2nd Gala at Taj Pierre, New York which was well appreciated by 300+ Business Leaders and Indian-American CEOs as audience in attendance. Yagya has passion for social reforms being himself coming out from a small & under-developed town of Jhansi District of Bundelkhand area(India) where he has seen and experienced real life problems since his childhood. His parents and family are still living there in small town and he contributes in taking social initiatives in his capacity to help unprivileged people back in his hometown via his parents. He is also a blogger on social issues ( and their solutions since his college days and has published some articles in leading newspapers as well as interviewed by multiple local news channels. 

Yagya is working closely with WHEELS Board Members under their great vision of changing lives and on various social initiatives using technology. He also contributes in event planning, sharing ideas and managing Young volunteers and participates in Board discussions. He has been bright student in all his academics and received district & state level Govt scholarships for meritorious students through qualifying exams, also won multiple quizzes at various stages. He is also awarded by the Indian Ambassador at Embassy of India, Washington DC for winning the quiz on Indian Heritage in Oct 2018.
